SHIPPING YOUR BIKE WITH SBR MULTISPORTS

You live in the New York City area, but you want to participate in races around the globe. How are you going to get your bike there?

Most major airlines accept oversized and heavy checked packages, but will charge an additional fee. Please contact your airline for up to date prices and restrictions.

However, if you are tired of the high costs, inconvenience and risks of checking your bike with the airlines, try shipping your bike with SBR!

How to ship your bike with SBR:

  • It is recommended that you bring your bike to the store 5 business days before the scheduled date of the race or event. If you have questions regarding transport time or how to ship your bike to a foreign country, call SBR at (212)399-3999 or email shipping@sbrshop.com for advice.

  • Bring your velo safe or other bike box with you. If you do not have a box for your bike, you have two options: you can rent our bike box for $100/week (call ahead to reserve it) or we can pack your bike in a cardboard bike box. We use the same sturdy boxes which bicycle companies use to ship their product to us. If we don’t have any used cardboard boxes on hand, you will be charged $20 for a new bike box.

  • There is a $55 charge for the breakdown and packaging of your bicycle. This is handled by our very experienced bike shop team, who will treat your bike with care. You will not be charged for this service if you bring in your bike already disassembled and boxed, unless we deem the packaging unsatisfactory for shipment.

  • SBR ships all bikes via DHL. All DHL shipments are automatically insured for up to $100. Additional insurance is available for 70 cents per $100 and is highly recommended. SBR does not take responsibility for any damage during shipment.

  • In order to provide an accurate shipping quote, we need the following information:
    - Address where the bike is to be sent. Don’t forget the ZIP CODE
    - Phone number of where the bike is to be sent.
    - Your contact information (phone number and email).
    - Do you want the bike to be insured? If yes, for how much?
    - Is the bike being shipped in a hard velo safe or a cardboard box?

  • Once your bike has been shipped, we will email you with your tracking number. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the shipping department at (212) 399-3999 ext. 14, or by email at shipping@sbrshop.com.
