Nutritional Fueling for Training and Race Day Performance and Recovery
Gail Flanagan is a registered dietitian with a masters of science in applied physiology and nutrition from Columbia University . She has worked with numerous professional and amateur athletes as well as patients requiring clinical nutrition for diabetes control and prevention, cancer management, obesity, eating disorders, IBS, hypertension and cardio-vascular disease. Ms. Flanagan is a former varsity athlete and current golfer, swimmer and triathlete. She practices in Manhattan at Duke Chiropractic.
Ms. Flanagan is coming to SBR Multisports to discuss proper fueling for triathlon training, post race recovery fueling, ergogenic aids including Gu, Hammer Nutrition, Accelerade, Endorox, etc., the best fluids to take, whole foods, electrolytes and other topics you may have questions about.

Preventing IT Band Syndrome with Dr. Amico from Duke Chiropractic
Dr. Amico of Duke Chiropractic Multi-Sport and Spinal Rehabilitation Clinic is back for another informative talk on IT Band Syndrome. Many runners and triathletes suffer from IT Band Syndrome, a leading cause of lateral knee pain. Dr. Amico will discuss what ITB Syndrome is, and address various ways to recognize, prevent and treat it. He specializes in the practice of Active Release Technique (A.R.T.), a new medical practice which has helped thousands of triathletes recover from injuries such as ITB Syndrome.

The Mechanics of Injury: Why Do They Happen, How Can They Be Prevented?

Injuries are, unfortunately, common in multisport athletes. Many of these injuries are preventable with careful attention to mechanics, including body mechanics and bike mechanics. This workshop will explain the careful balance between the mechanics of injury and effective prevention. Drs. Metzl will use real live cases and demonstrations to show how many injuries are preventable. Come learn from this dynamic, Nationally recognized, brother team!
